"Actual statistics and practical logistics may come in the way, but the rationale is very simple - with the right kind of focus and motivation, the gap between what is needed and what is possible could be very small." |

The inspiration behind the Isha Foundation’s humanitarian and environmental initiatives is Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev; Yogi, mystic and spiritual master ‘with a difference’. Sadhguru’s unfailingly witty, devastatingly logical and provocative insights and perspectives have earned him the reputation of a speaker and opinion-maker of international renown on subjects as diverse as human rights, business values, social justice and the environment. Delegate to the United Nations Millennium Peace Summit, a member of the World Council of Religious Leaders, invitee to the Australian Leadership Retreat, Tallberg Forum and the World Economic Forum at Davos in 2006, 2007, 2008 & 2009, and the Indian Economic Summit 2005 & 2006, Sadhguru’s international presence is growing rapidly. Project GreenHands was Sadhguru’s response to the huge deforestation occurring in his home state of Tamil Nadu, where desertification threatens millions of rural people with famine. He saw that nurturing two saplings over the next 10 years was a task that even the poorest of the poor could do and that the rich and the resourceful had the ability to do much more. He engineered PGH so that every single person’s simple involvement and personal action could make something truly beautiful, wonderful and timely happen, without placing any additional financial burden upon the state. |
