Green Villages

Green Villages are being developed to demonstrate how rural communities can be mobilized to transform their environmentally degraded villages into sustainable living systems within 3 years. In clusters of 10 villages, PGH aims to mobilize 100% of the population to actively work towards the plantation and maintenance of 33% indigenous green cover.

The engagement strategy is facilitating the highest possible levels of active participation. Existing social networks and self help groups provide access to people, while the development of a local Tree Growers Association and a Children’s Eco Club anchors the initiative into community. It is scalable, replicable and intended to spread. Green Village adoption represents a unique CSR opportunity for organizations committed to reforestation, climate change mitigation, environmental education, community development, biodiversity and water conservation.
