In villages, the rural community has been made aware of the project through public broadcasts and announcements, awareness meetings and door-to-door campaigns. Additionally, brochures have been distributed in more than 3,200 villages through the Isha Foundation's other social projects. Special meetings and seminars, such as the Agri-Fest 07, have been organized for farmers groups, NGOs, Self Help Groups and other interest groups at the grassroots level.

Decision-makers and politicians have been introduced to the project through individual presentations and involvement in functions like Planting Inaugurations and Closing ceremonies, sapling distribution and in large-scale events.

A number of different media have been used to promote the project including posters, banners and hoardings in public places, a Tamil book, Sounds of Isha music CDs and fund-raising concerts, advertisements on SUN Network channels and Sadhguru's programs on Hello FM, the on-line radio isha.nowpos.com and NDTV.

Events like the annual Mahashivarathiri Festival Celebration in March and Project GreenHands' tree planting launch in September where more than 500,000 people participated, played a vital role in creating awareness among the general public and providing a boost for Isha volunteers' participation in the project.

Isha volunteers have been encouraged to promote the project in their own localities and special volunteer get-togethers have been organized to exchange information and boost motivation.

Internationally, PGH was present at the 2007 "Be the Change" conference in London where the documentary of the project was screened and has been invited to present at campus and school events and Indian community gatherings both in UK and USA.
